COVID-19 VACCINATIONS:

Unfortunately, CDD does not have the necessary facilities and is not equipped to provide our patients with the COVID-19 Vaccinations on site, however we encourage you to book in for your vaccination through your GP or State Vaccination Hubs https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/book-covid-vaccination.

A recent publication by NSW Health COVID-19 Critical Intelligence Unit entitled “Immunocompromised patients and COVID-19 vaccines” looked at the evidence on COVID-19 vaccination for immunocompromised patients and found patients with chronic inflammatory diseases (such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)) had a good response to vaccination without considerable side effects or disease flares and, as such, the benefits of vaccination outweigh the potential risks.

Whilst there are some conditions such as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), and idiopathic splanchnic vein thrombosis that may exempt you from receiving the COVID-19 vaccination, there are no gastrointestinal (GI) diseases or conditions listed as medical contraindications.  Should you have one of the pre-existing, non-GI listed medical conditions that qualify for exemption, please see your GP who will need to complete a COVID-19 Vaccine Medical Contraindication Form for you which can be obtained from NSW Health https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/vaccine/Documents/covid-19-vaccine-contraindication.pdf.
