Dr Sanjay Ramrakha
Qualifications: MBBS (NSW) PhD FRACGP FACEM
Dr Sanjay Ramrakha has been providing services to the Centre of Digestive Diseases (CDD) since 1998. In this role he has performed more than 50,000 sedations for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
Being a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners he is able to provide the assessment of suitable patients especially the aged who requires a preoperative assessment with regards to undertaking a bowel preparation.
Dr Ramrakha has been actively involved in clinical trials, research and development during his time at CDD. He has an interest in the development of oxygenation devices used in sedation and has also been involved in the development of a novel capsule bowel preparation. The latter product was licensed to Salix Pharmaceutical (USA) in 2014.
He completed his PhD in 2013 entitled “Improving safety in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.”
Dr Sanjay holds the position of Senior Clinical Lecturer at Sydney University in association with his RPA appointment and has been involved in the teaching of nursing and medical staff. He has been an active participant and presenter at medical conferences in Australian and internationally and has had poster presentations at Australian Gastro Week and Digestive Diseases Week. He regularly addresses the GP nights conducted by the Centre.
