Assoc Prof Matt Rickard
Qualifications: MBBS (Hons), MMed (Clin Epi), Dip Paed (NSW), FRACS
Clinical Associate Professor Matt Rickard has practiced as a Colorectal Surgeon in public and private practice for 16 years, and is currently based in Concord Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. He has extensive experience in advanced colorectal surgical techniques, colorectal cancer, laparoscopic colorectal surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and surgical epidemiology.
Following graduation with honours from the University of Sydney, he undertook further surgical training both locally (receiving a master’s degree in Epidemiology) and internationally.
A/P Rickard is currently acting as Chairman of the Australia and New Zealand Training Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Previous positions include:
- Chairman of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
- Councillor for the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand
He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery with the Sydney Medical School in the University of Sydney, and the Head of Department of Colorectal Surgery at Concord Hospital.
